As we begin 2026 and celebrate another month along America's 250th Anniversary journey, January brings us more incredibly pivotal moments that have shaped our nation's identity. This opening month is not just a time for new beginnings and resolutions, but also a period brimming with historical significance.

It was in January that the Ford Motor Company made groundbreaking strides in workers' rights by establishing the 8-hour workday and a $5 minimum wage, setting a revolutionary precedent for fair labor practices. January also honors the legacy of Martin Luther King Jr., whose birthday reminds us of his transformative leadership in the civil rights movement and the ongoing pursuit of equality and justice for all Americans.

January has also been a month of remarkable growth, with seven states joining the Union — including Georgia (our very own state!), Connecticut, Kansas, Michigan, New Mexico, Alaska, and Utah — adding to the diverse fabric of our country. Furthermore, January has given us the gift of extraordinary American leadership, celebrating the birthdays of four U.S. Presidents: Millard Fillmore, Richard Nixon, William McKinley, and Franklin D.
