Educational Places to Go For Spring Break

This spring break, while it might be time to enjoy making memories outside of school, it doesn’t mean kids can’t learn new things. It's all about where you go and how you spin the lessons you want to learn—and at Gallopade, we understand the importance of education and want to help you take the classroom on the road.

Get ready to TRIP-ify your history lessons while you check out the most educational yet entertaining spring break destinations for you and your family.

Costa Rica

We’ve all seen George of the Jungle and his pet toucan, but what if we told you this is something you could experience in real life? Costa Rica is one of the most breathtaking places in the world for you and your family to visit.

Are your children lovers of "all-things-wild," including the ecosystems that animals live in? If so, they'll be so intrigued with being immersed in a world of iguanas and wild macaws that they won’t suspect you brought them there to learn.

Rome, Italy

The city where gladiators battled in fights of the fittest, Rome has a rich history that your children will find fascinating. Not only can your children watch a reenactment of those gladiator fights in the amphitheater, but you can also explore the Roman ruins or take them to see the wonders of Pompeii.

Not to mention you need to let them experience what authentic Italian cuisine tastes like, at least once in their lives! Don’t take our word for it, take your children, and don’t be surprised if they never want to return home again.

With all the beauty Rome has to offer, could you blame them? Who knows, visiting Rome could help your children find clues to solve The Mystery at the Roman Colosseum.

Williamsburg, Virginia

Not everyone may want to pick up and fly across international waters, and that's precisely why we’ve included some places on our list that you can get to by driving. If you want your children to see "living history," Williamsburg, Virginia, is the place to go.

Colonial Williamsburg transports children back in time and gives them a first-hand glimpse into how things were done in the 18th century. In this interactive reenactment, you can visit and learn from the voices of that time about old colonial weaponry, life in the village, and visit the church.

Of course, we understand all this learning will make your children tired, which is precisely why you can’t miss out on visiting Busch Gardens while you’re there. What better way to unwind than to enjoy swirling roller coasters among the idyllic setting of spring flowers beginning to bloom!

Sedona, Arizona

Arizona knows how to turn up the heat in spring, and it's a much better destination that doesn’t involve your children sitting in front of the TV. Arizona is the perfect place to take your children hiking, and if you’re into it, you can bike ride beautiful mountainous trails.

There’s one place you won’t want to miss while visiting Arizona and it's the Grand Canyon. 4.53 million people visit the natural red rock area each year, and they don’t leave disappointed.

Before you head off on your adventure, check out I’m Reading About the Grand Canyon and help your children brush up on their knowledge of everything there is to know about the canyon. We understand you’ve got to pack up the car and head out on your adventure, but don’t forget to check out our other must-read posts for more ideas and activities to make spring break entertaining AND educational!
